As much as we eschew terms like "find your dream vehicle, etc.", it would be hard to bill yourself as a facilitator who claims to act on the best interest of your clients if you did so by stealth. The importation process is a spider web of interwoven variables which makes it hard to pin down an exact overhead algorithm and then apply your target profit margin. You probably already appreciate the dynamics involved in this process through prior research and therefore know that the final price relates to the amount of risk. The cheapest way to land a JDM vehicle is to underwrite the risk yourself - either by using an agent in Japan, or a Canadian agency with an established Japan based partner. The most expensive way also offers instant gratification - you go look at the vehicle on a lot in Canada, kick the tires, and drive away. The dealer took the risk, and sat while his money was tied up. If the client chose the former method the dealer made his stated agent's fee. If the latter, then the dealer realized a sale price based on what the market would bear, and thus a more substantial profit margin, which is only fair.
At the moment our stated agent's fee is $750.00 on deals where the client takes the risk. All the other costs are not hidden from the client who pays the exact charges incurred at each stage of the process. Conversely, by offering a set price to import a Japan based vehicle wherein the vehicle is turned over to the client with all the related importation expenses included in the final price well in advance of the vehicle leaving Japan - that price by necessity must be higher. That's because the importation process is imprecise and to offer a set landed price means you have to pad that price to cover every eventuality or worse case scenario.

Each has it's own strength's and perhaps weaknesses as evidenced by the history of posts in related forums. You are encouraged to research all and make your comparisons based upon which service is right for you - whether your decision is based upon location, price, selection of vehicles, terms of the warranty, or range of available services. Note, many of these also offer parts for your vehicle.
